The Department of Sociology at Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva University is established in 2014 with a Masters Programme. Through meticulous teaching/training programmes and holistic education, the department is devoted towards creating competent and socially aware graduates. The course curriculum of the department at M.A. (CBCS), levels has been prepared keeping in view the manpower requirements in various industrial organizations and in various departments of both public and private sectors. Moreover, the academic programme is intended to provide a strong foundation of the students in the discipline of sociology by encouraging their engagements with contemporary concerns and issues of life. Eligibility for Admission to B.A. (Major) Programmes: A student who passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, or any equivalent examination recognised as such by the University shall be eligible for admission to the First Semester of the Six Semester B.A. (Major) programme. 2. M.A. in Sociology Eligibility for Admission : At least 45% marks in Major in Sociology or 45% marks in aggregate in B.A. Duration of the Programme : 2 years (4-Semesters) Intake Capacity : 40 Nos.
