Tata Steel, LL and the government of the United Kingdom decided to invest in Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking at the Port Talbot site under a joint venture whose total capital requirement will be £1.25bn of which a grant of up to £500mn will be given by the UK government while Tata Steel Limited sources the balance £725mn. The envisaged timeline for the project is 36 months. The investment under consideration would enable us to get to break-even from the current money-losing state in UK.
