Zomato Business Profile
Zomato had 389,932 active restaurant listings as at 31 March 2021. Its mobile application has been the top downloaded food and drinks application in India for each of the preceding three financial years on iOS App Store and Google Play, based on data from Q2FY24 which indicates that the company had 18.4 million average monthly transacting users against 16.4 mn in the previous quarter, Q4FY23.

As per the financial year ending March 2023 (FY23), the app is receiving about 90 billion visits every month. Out of the ~248 cities in India, the break-even status of cities has been achieved while in FY22, more than 1000 cities have become Zomato active cities with more than 500 added cities to its portfolio.

Business segments
Broadly, Zomato operates in three business segments; 1) Food delivery, 2) Dining out, 3) Hyper pure.
Food Delivery– Zomato’s food delivery business has three key stakeholders namely; (i) Customers, (ii) Delivery Partners, and (iii) Restaurants. Zomato’s food delivery business has seen immense growth in India over the years with orders multiplying by 13.2 times from 30.6 million in FY18 to 403.1 million in FY20. Similarly, the Gross Order Value (GOV) rose by 8.4 times from INR 13,341.4 million in FY18 to INR 112,209 million in FY20.

In FY22, Zomato delivered orders worth Rs213Bn across 535.2 million orders, which means that the average order value was around 398 rupees. However, the government paid out an amount of Rs213. By Q2FY23, average monthly transactions were 17.5Mn, average monthly active food delivery restaurants stood at 2,07,000 whereas number of delivery men on stand-by was 3,41,000.

Dining Out- People utilize Zomato’s dining away offers to find places where they can eat and know more about them, write what they feel concerning customer service at those joints, upload some photos as well as read other customers feedbacks. Blinkit– At the moment, the company operates in fifteen cities within India. The company has set a target of four hundred and eighty stores by the end of fiscal year twenty fourth (FY24). They are also projecting to breakeven in Quarter One of financial year twenty fifth (Q1FY25).
